Rb5 Vinicola: A Visual Identity that Blends Tradition and Innovation

Combining Quality, Tradition, and Technology

The RB5 winery, located in Sao Leopoldo, Brazil, is a testament to the dedication and passion of the Bartolini family. Founded in 1853 by Giovanni Bartolini, the winery has been passed down through generations, with each Bartolini brother specializing in a different grape and wine. Today, under the leadership of Joao Vitor Bartolini, RB5 continues to uphold its tradition of quality while embracing technology and innovation.

The visual identity of RB5 was carefully crafted by designer Victor Weiss to convey the essence of the winery. With a focus on quality, tradition, seriousness, good taste, and class, the visual identity captures the unique character of RB5.

One of the standout features of RB5's visual identity is the monogram, which cleverly incorporates the hidden letters "R" and "B" within a clean serif 5 number. This monogram, along with a silhouette of a wine opener in the negative space, represents the winery's commitment to craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Studio Victor Weiss, in collaboration with premium printing agencies in South Brazil, utilized various production techniques and materials to bring the visual identity to life. From embossing and golden foil to crepe paper and clean-cut premium wood, every element was carefully chosen to enhance the overall aesthetic and create a sense of elegance.

The visual identity project extended beyond the monogram and included a range of collaterals such as business cards, envelopes, shopping bags, custom documents, wooden package boxes, care manuals, wine bottle packaging, in-store uniforms, and tags. Additionally, a user-friendly UI/UX design was developed for the RB5 website, ensuring a seamless digital experience for customers.

RB5's visual identity not only reflects the rich history and craftsmanship of the winery but also positions it as a modern and innovative brand. By successfully blending tradition and technology, RB5 has created a visual identity that resonates with its target audience and sets it apart from mass production wine companies.

The RB5 winery, with its sophisticated approach to winemaking, offers a unique and refined experience to its customers. From cultivating grapevines to creating the perfect alcoholic combinations and aging the final product, RB5's dedication to craftsmanship is evident in every bottle. The wines can be found in premium supermarkets and stores throughout South America, making RB5 a sought-after brand for wine enthusiasts.

The RB5 visual identity project, which began in May 2017 and concluded in January 2018, was a result of extensive research and strategic planning. By understanding the target audience, creating specific personas, and defining the brand attributes, Studio Victor Weiss was able to develop a visual identity that effectively communicates RB5's values and differentiates it from competitors.

The RB5 visual identity project faced several challenges, including the need to showcase the winery's rich history while highlighting its modern approach. The naming process played a crucial role in achieving this balance, with the monogram incorporating the initials "RB" and the number 5, representing the five Bartolini brothers who founded the winery. The abstract formation of the monogram allows it to be used both alongside the brand name and as a standalone icon.

The RB5 visual identity project has received recognition for its excellence in design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category in 2020. This prestigious award celebrates designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving the quality of life.

RB5 Vinicola's visual identity is a testament to the Bartolini family's dedication to winemaking and their ability to blend tradition with innovation. With its timeless elegance and modern appeal, RB5 stands as a symbol of excellence in the wine industry.
